AGWA reached 23,800 internally displaced persons and partnered with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and expanded the partnership with the International Organization (IOM) for Migration, where 750 emergency shelters were supplied and distributed in response to floods and rains in Merowe, Al-Burgaig and Dongola Localities in the Northern State Agwa’s Office also established a partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the budget also included the purchase of some assets for the Dongola office.
During 2024, Sudan Agwa Organization has established a robust partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), enabling support for 9,700 displaced families and host communities, benefiting 48,500 individuals who received NFI and Hygiene Kits.
Through its collaboration with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), AGWA has provided agricultural training to 120 farmers from both the host community and displaced populations. Additionally, the organization constructed two model farms, directly impacting the livelihoods of 360 people.
In addressing the housing needs of displaced individuals and those affected by floods and heavy rains, Sudan Agwa Organization, in partnership with NRC, developed a model for constructing environmentally friendly, cost-effective housing using smart, low-cost bricks. The results of this innovative project will be shared with other partners to enhance the capacity of the northern state.
In response to the urgent need to mitigate the effects of floods and rains, Sudan Agwa Organization, supported by the Rapid Response Fund program provided by IOM, delivered 750 temporary shelters, assisting 3,750 individuals in Merowie, Al-Burgaig, and Dongola.
Looking ahead, coordination is underway to increase support in 2025 to reach 20,000 families, which will include 80,000 displaced persons. Additionally, plans are in place to open regional offices in Khartoum, Gedarif and Kassala.
