Commitment to PSEA

Sudan Agwa Organization (SAO) is committed to the safety and well-being of all beneficiaries we serve, particularly children and vulnerable adults. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our core principles and procedures to prevent all forms of harm, including Child Protection and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).

Expected Conduct

Our Safeguarding Principles:

  • The best interests of the child are paramount. All decisions and actions are made with the child’s safety and well-being as the top priority.
  • Do no harm. We strive to create a safe and protective environment for all beneficiaries.
  • Empowerment and participation. We encourage beneficiaries to report concerns and participate in decisions affecting their safety.
  • Accountability and transparency. We are committed to transparency in our actions and hold ourselves accountable for upholding safeguarding standards.
  • Zero tolerance for abuse. All forms of abuse, exploitation, and neglect are strictly prohibited.

Child Protection Policy:

SAO has a comprehensive Child Protection Policy that outlines specific measures to protect children from harm. This includes:

  • Recruitment and screening procedures: All staff, volunteers, and contractors undergo rigorous background checks and receive child protection training.
  • Child safeguarding protocols: We have clear guidelines for interacting with children, ensuring their safety and dignity are respected at all times.
  • Reporting procedures: Children and adults are encouraged to report any concerns about child safety through various channels.

Core Values

  • Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA):SAO adheres to a strict PSEA Policy that prohibits any form of sexual activity or conduct with a beneficiary by anyone associated with the organization. This policy includes:
    • Awareness-raising: We train staff and beneficiaries about PSEA risks and how to report concerns.
    • Power imbalances: We are vigilant about power imbalances between staff and beneficiaries and avoid situations that could be exploitative.
    • Confidentiality and reporting: We provide safe and confidential channels for reporting any suspected PSEA incidents. All reports are investigated promptly and appropriately.

    Safeguarding Reporting:

SAO provides multiple ways for beneficiaries and staff to report concerns about safeguarding violations:

    • Report to a Supervisor: You can directly report concerns to your immediate supervisor or any member of SAO’s management team.
    • Confidential Reporting Hotline: We have established a confidential hotline for anonymous reporting. The number for this hotline is [+249116831331]. You can report concerns 24/7 through this hotline.
    • Third-Party Reporting: If you feel uncomfortable reporting internally, you can report concerns to a designated independent third-party organization. Details regarding the third-party reporting mechanism will be available on SAO’s intranet or through Human Resources.

SAO take all reports seriously and investigate them promptly. Retaliation against anyone who reports a suspected violation is strictly prohibited.

    Commitment to Safeguarding:

SAO is committed to continuous improvement in our safeguarding practices. We regularly review and update our policies and procedures, and provide ongoing training to staff and beneficiaries on safeguarding issues. We collaborate with other organizations to share best practices and promote a culture of safety in the humanitarian sector.
